Child Protection and family Services moscot competition

Seaside Primary's very own Samaki Souden was a top ten finalist chosen out of over 100 applicants in the island for the Child Protection and Family Services mascot competition held February 21,2020. 

During the announcement it was reveal that our student finished 4th overall as he carried the Portland flag well. We are extremely proud of his accomplishment. 

Child Friendly School Jamaica

Our principal, Adli Lewis, was one of the over fifty awardees that completed the National College for Educational Leadership NCEL online course done in collaboration with United Nations Children Find UNICEF. This course highlighted the critical aspects of developing schools for them to be deemed child friendly. The theme "happy children happy nation" was immediately adopted as the mantra of Mr Lewis. 

The awards ceremony was held at the Pegasus Hotel in Kingston on January 30, 2020.  The main address came from the acting permanent secretary in the Ministry of Education Youth and Information, Mrs Grace McLean. Principal/director of the college, Dr Taniesa Ingleton, recognized our principal for the first participant to have completed the Agora UNICEF course. Seaside Primary is proud of our principal on this significant achievement. 

Parent's Month Awards Dinner

The first of its kind Parents awards dinner was held at Hotel Timbamboo in Portland on November 28, 2020. The function was well attended by Parent Teachers Association members and they were addressed by Mrs Anggie Miller, Ministry of Health Regional Officer. 

Parents were coached on becoming involved in all aspects of their students lives. The male parents were encouraged to continue to be apart of their children's school life as they were noticeable in the function. 

Mrs Duhaney, Mr Neufville, Ms Thompson, Ms Raymond and Mrs Henry were recognized for their outstanding contribution to the PTA and school at large. Their exemplary traits were spoken of and encouraged to continue on that path. 

The evening was filled with laughter and entertainment as they all enjoyed the delectable food and good company. 

Jamaica Moves 

Seaside Primary was crowned national primary champions at Eltham High School in St Catherine April 5, 2019. The Jamaica move initiative is a Ministry of Health and Wellness MOHW programme to educate and eradicate non communicable diseases such hypertension, diabetes and obesity. Seaside Primary is proud to be a pilot school for this program and has fully implemented strategies such as water day, removal sugary acid drinks and sweats, scheduled exercise/movement activities just to name a few. 

In June 2019 the school was awarded platinum for it's implementation of the programme. The ceremony was held at Pegasus Hotel in Kingston.

We are truly proud of these accomplishments. 

Mini Miss Seaside Competition

The staging of Mini Miss Seaside Competition was an enormous success. The production was excellent and so was the support from the immediate and business community. Senior Teacher, Mrs Sarnia Malcolm McKenzie led the team to yet another successful staging that we could all look back beaming with pride.

Seaside Primary School congratulates Gillian Harper of Grade 5 for capturing the top prize/title this year. 

150th Celebration Banquet and Retirement Function

The 150th Banquet and Retirement Awards function for Seaside Primary School was held at Cliff hanger Restaurant and Lounge. Six retired teachers and one principal was recognized for their hard work and dedication to the school community. Awardees included:

Ms McDonald (former Principal), Mrs Percy, Ms Walker, Ms Reid, Mr Watson Mrs Clarke and the late Mrs Taylor (represented by her daughter). The night was filled with fun and laughter as Ms Gibbs took us on an adventure and Mrs Grant Facey (Principal of Happy Grove High) delivered the keynote address.
